Hot and Wet (A Summer Rhyme)

Hither and fro, yon and thither,

under my nose with a damp, weeping feather.

When the joints are all swollen how can we measure?

Can you pierce the heat with a mind so clever?

What will we do about this weather?

What will we do about this whether?

Heal the sore beneath fond fetter,

climb the pole and shed tied tether?

What will we cleave and what will we sever?
